From Vision To Reality

In March 2006, two dedicated local physicians, Dr. Tom Gore and Dr. Bob Copeland, envisioned a medical clinic to serve Troup County’s working poor and near-poor populations. They sought to provide accessible healthcare to those who often fall through the cracks in traditional medical systems. By June 2007, Troup Cares Inc. opened its doors to its first patient, offering accessible chronic disease management, and more to individuals and families.

Supporting Our Community

The clinic was established to assist hardworking individuals and families who are balancing financial responsibilities such as rent, car payments, and educational expenses while striving to make ends meet. Over the years, community needs have changed. We have broadened our eligibility criteria to include any uninsured and underinsured resident of Troup County regardless of employment, ensuring that even more people in our community can access the care they deserve.

Expansion and Growth

In June 2009, we welcomed a full-time nurse practitioner and a full-time care manager/registered nurse, allowing the clinic to be open three full days a week. By December 2010, we expanded to include Mondays. With our mission fully in place, the clinic now operates four days a week, while physician referral services are available five days a week, alongside our pharmaceutical and care management services.

Comprehensive Specialist Care Through Volunteer Service

Our team of specialists spans a variety of fields, including cardiology, chiropractic, gastroenterology, gynecology, nephrology, optometry, orthopedics, physical therapy, podiatry, pulmonology, surgery, urology, and more. These committed doctors and nurses generously volunteer their time and expertise, providing their services at no cost to our patients.

Our Achievments

Troup Cares Free Clinic has established a true medical home for our patients, enabling them to access care promptly when health concerns arise. In most cases, we can offer treatment directly at the clinic or refer patients to one of our many specialists. This approach marks a significant departure from the emergency room cycle that many of our patients previously faced.
